BB 25660
Documentation phase for the historic livery

In order to get as close as possible to the exact historical livery (such as the machine was put into service in 1975), the documentation phase prior to the start of the painting work was essential.

We already had significant documentation within the APCC 6570, but Bernard Bayle, whom we are very grateful for, provided us with valuable additions, in particular on the references of the original colors, the dimensions of the white patterns (side bands, "frontal whiskers"), the exact size and position of the various markings, etc.

The question of the "right" color green often comes up in debates. We used the precise reference of the original green. The rendering of the different photos is sometimes misleading, which fuels the debates. You only have to compare the different photos below (Alsthom / SNCF) to realize that the reproduction of the photos can sometimes be confusing and present sometimes important nuances from one view to another.
But that enthusiasts rest assured, we used the "good" green !

Above: several official photos of the BB 25588 when it left the Alsthom factory in Belfort. The 25588 was the first BB 25500 "long cab" (25588 to 25694).

Also above: different markings (grouped together on the same document). The SNCF logo and the machine number use the "BEFFARA" character font.

Opposite on the left: the industrial references of the colors to be used (equivalences between the RAL and NCS color charts).
The markings are in daffodil yellow 401 (NCS S 1060-Y10R).

Below: the colors of the faceplates. As the original plates were long gone, we had to order new aluminum ones from a foundry.

Note: We only reproduce on this page a small part of the necessary documentation.

Documents in computer graphics: Jean-Philippe Thernisien.

We renew our warm thanks to Mr. Bernard Bayle for the invaluable documentation which he very kindly transmitted to us.
