CC 6500 : final destination ... |

Sunday December 12th 2004 : On the day following end of CC 6500s regular freight service, some 12 locomotives were at disposal in Miramas depot. To clear the depot, a locomotive train was organized to take back condemned CC 6500s to their depot in Lyon. This locomotive train is seen here, pulled by then still used CC 6565 in Thor station, between Miramas and Avignon.

On December 9th 2004, CC 6510 is taking eight of its sister to "Death Row", in Roanne. In Saint-Etienne station, CC 6510 will leave this train to a couple of diesel locomotives.

Transfer to Baroncourt scrapyard of the forty CC 6500s temporarily stored in Roanne was made in four times during the first couple of week of July 2005.
Here is the train of July 7th with CC 6507, 6511, 6509, 6556, 6531, 6506, 6537, 6573, 6518 et 6523.

More or less one CC 6500 was broken up a day by these machines equipped with a terribly efficient cutting plier.

While this CC 6573 was one of the most beautiful CC 6500s in service until December 2004, it is seen here close to its end ...
